When I first
started making wallpapers, I had a bunch already that I had done for
family members. This one I did for my sister who loves purple. It was
basically just experimentation in MetaCreations Bryce 4 I had been wanting
to dabble in displacement mapping and such for awhile and came up with
this. The effect I was looking for was comic book representation of an
exploding wall. It is really filter heavy, but it came out as I wished. This originally
started out as a strand of dna but in the end the size did not allow me to
shape it in a double helix. I was about to start over from scratch, but
finally decided I liked it the way it was because it allowed me more room
for detail. My first ever
piece done in "grunge". Started out as a "graphics fight" Between
myself and a bro who goes by TheKingsWolf. After alot of experimentation
with distortion filters, I saw a medium to represent the love that all
folk hold for art whether graphical or musical and the special place that
we have in out hearts for it. Was sitting on
GuruNetworks looking at his tutorial on reflection and refraction using
displacement mapping. And upon several failures trying his way, I set out
on my own to recreate a glass ball full of water along with a refracted
image from the background. I was just totally lost with the creation of
the diplacement map on Guru...I think I did ok though on my own using the
spherize filter. :-) This is an
original work by TheKingsWolf that I used as a base for a grunge
piece, my 2nd attempt at this form. I was feeling melancholy and cold from
the recent winter weather we had and was thinking of spring and warmer
weather...hence the tropical swallowtails. The most recent
wallie and another spring fever induced piece. I was really wanting to
tone down the use of grunge and color for once. the base for this piece
was the hexback wallpaper above.
